LOST LAUGHS: The Slapstick Tragedy of Fatty Arbuckle
A play about the forgotten story of Fatty Arbuckle, with the comedy of the silent film era center stage.
I’ve been thinking about a Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle play for over a decade. This winter, Sean Daniels, Artistic Director at Merrimack Repertory Theatre asked me if I was interested in doing something about Arbuckle for the upcoming season. A couple of weeks later I’d written 20 pages.
For this production I’m collaborating with Neo Futurist Andy Bayiates as co-writer, and Nathan Keepers, Co-Artistic Director of The Moving Company as director. MRT Associate Artist John Gregorio will play Buster Keaton, Minta Durfee (Arbuckle), and a number of other roles.
LOST LAUGHS: The Slapstick Tragedy of Fatty Arbuckle runs February 14-March 11 2018 at MRT.
